Best way to watch TV online
It wasn’t long ago that you had to sit in front on a TV at a certain time in order to catch your favorite shows. Of course, there were ways to work around this, such as recording shows and watching them later. But let’s be honest. How many of us had the wherewithal to figure out such things? We all live busy lives, and if it’s not convenient to watch your tv shows, you are bound to not watch them at all.
The Internet, however, has changed things for the better. Today, there are plenty of ways to enjoy your tv shows at any time you want. In this article, I will cover some of my favorite ways to watch tv on the internet.
If you want to watch a show that is currently airing, your best best may be to go to the network website. For example, if you want to watch the Bachelor, you can simply go to the ABC website while the show is airing. Typically, network stations will allow you to watch the most recent 5 episodes for free.
It used to be that the number of commercials you’ll encounter on network sites were minimal. However, this is no longer the case. These days, I have noticed that the commercials are quite lengthy when you watch tv online. In fact, I think they are just as lengthy as they would be had you watched the program live.
So now that you know how to watch tv for currently airing programs, how do you go about catching program from the past. The easiest way would be to purchase them on iTunes or Amazon. But at $1.99 per episode, this can get costly quite fast.
A much better option, in my opinion, is to join a streaming service like Amazon, Hulu, or Netflix. Many of these services have original programming, in addition to allowing you to watch past episodes of many hit shows such as Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. It is important to note that the original shows on these services are very high quality and very well produced. Take Daredevil, on Netflix as an example. This show is critically acclaimed, well-written, with great actors and terrific production value. There are plenty of other shows that are just as good, which you can watch for free once you’re a member of a streaming service.
If you want original programming, Netflix will provide you with the greatest number of shows, since they are currently the largest streaming service by a wide margin. But other services like Amazon and Hulu offer original programs as well. Eventually, each of these services will become the equivalent of a network channel in terms of the number of shows they offer.
A final option, which I don’t recommend but know many people use, are iffy free streaming sites that provide low-quality versions of tv shows. These sites are free, however, they are also illegal. Therefore, I highly advise you not to use these sites.
There is also a danger to using illegal streaming sites. The main ones is that many such sites will provide trojans or other malware on your computer. The bottom line is that you can’t trust a site that tries to profit by engaging in copyright infringement.
Last but not least, the quality of the videos on such sites are not good. I don’t know about you, but I personally prefer to watch HD versions of the tv shows I watch. It greatly impeded my viewing experience when I have to watch a show with bad picture quality and poor sound.
These days, it’s usually much easier to find a legitimate source of any tv show you wish to view. In some cases, it may not be free, but that’s still preferable to rolling the dice by using an illegal site.
If you are not quite sure which streaming service you want to join, it may be a good idea to get free trials so you can check each of them out. As of this writing, Netflix has a 1-month free trial. I believe Hulu’s free trial is 14 days. Amazon Prime (which entitles you to use the streaming service), has a free trial as well, which lasts one month.
If you purchase an HDMI cable, you can also view the content of these streaming services on your big-screen tv. There are other options, but using a cable is probably the lowest cost solution. Smart TVs are another option, but they tend to still be a bit too pricey for me.
An Amazon Fire TV stick is another great option. However, I find that the programs skip a bit when I use this device. Nevertheless it’s still a great way to turn a regular tv into a smart TV for around 40 dollars.
